Mint Authority
BURN ONE KEY AND THE SUPPLY CAN NEVER CHANGE AGAIN.1
An experiment in token mechanics, irreversibility, and the most consequential empty field on Solana.
¹ Precisely: it can never increase. Holders can still burn their own tokens.
Visual illustration only. Not live telemetry and not the state of any real token.
SOMEBODY CAN ALWAYS PRINT MORE. UNLESS NOBODY CAN.
Most promises about supply are sentences. This one is a field. While it holds an address, whoever controls that address can create new units whenever they like.
When it holds nothing, the question of trust is replaced by something anyone can read. It is a rare case of a rule enforced by an absence.
82 BYTES. ONE OF THEM DECIDES.
Every standard SPL Token mint account on Solana is exactly 82 bytes in binary layout. Below is a real client-side JavaScript model constructed with Uint8Array and DataView.
PASTE BASE64 ACCOUNT DATA
Paste raw Base64 account data copied from Solscan, Solana CLI, or RPC responses to inspect its 82-byte SPL token mint structure locally.
A local model of the account layout. It does not read the chain.
ONE FIELD. NOT THE WHOLE STORY.
Setting mint authority to None settles exactly one question cleanly and permanently. It is critical to understand precisely what that guarantees, and what remains separate.
Optional Address
An optional address stored inside the 82-byte mint account layout. Only signatures from this exact address can execute instructions creating new units.
Irreversible Instruction
One instruction, signed by the current authority, sets the field tag to Option::None (0) and overwrites the pubkey with zero bytes. The Solana token program contains no instruction to write it back.
Fixed Cap Ceiling
No new units can ever be minted by anyone. Total token supply can only stay where it is, or decrease if individual token holders burn their own tokens.
Limits & Clarity: A revoked mint authority says nothing about who holds existing token supply, about liquidity pool locks, or market valuation.
Freeze authority is a separate field in the account and may still be set or disabled independently. Token metadata (such as name, symbol, and off-chain URI) is governed by separate metadata program authorities. Newer Token-2022 programs may add extension capabilities.
Revoking mint authority answers one single question with absolute cryptographic mathematical certainty: Can anyone print more? No.
THE SHORTEST CAREER IN CRYPTO.
TERMS OF ISSUE.
A promise is a sentence. A field is a fact.
The strongest authority is the one nobody holds.
Some doors are worth building without a handle.
Read the account, not the announcement.
None means none.
MINT AUTHORITY / $MINT
Mint Authority is a community-driven Solana meme coin inspired by the field that decides whether more can ever be made. The token is the cultural artifact. The empty field is the story.

THE FOUR STATES.
An account exists. Somebody is in charge.
The plate is used.
The plate is cancelled. Nobody is in charge.
Whatever people do with a fixed thing.
SIGN NOTHING. SHOW UP ANYWAY.
Read the field.
